Cloudy Shore
walk the shore, an arthritic dog,
each footfall births a crater.
wind strums a murmur of galaxies
to ponder many lives
in pores of immense, fickle grey-blue surfaces.
what is the dog
to the multitudinous cheeks of the beach?
to the instantaneous liquid crinkles
squinting by the thousands
from the ocean?
the skyline intoxicates dark.
a nimbostratus of hullaballoo.
wind always seduces quite well
to incite such stampedes,
full of measureless, quested drops of rain.
the storm encompasses sand and ocean,
and even the ponderous dog.
it renders the beast's lonely trek fervent
and baptismal.
its chuckles of playful grey fire,
until finally a gale liberates
the last wisp of sunset, and so
the dog,
shivering after such numbing sheets,
wanders home.
