Poem: Alder and Deer

Alder and Deer

a doe in the woods

shies from an effortless signpost

of thorns.

none of the thousandth

scrape her.  hasteless

she flows,

snaps no twig.

brittle jags of shadblow

comb her fur

in quiescence.

drops of sun glister,

sifted by noonday birches,

when she cranes

fair.
