Poem: Happy Couple

Happy Couple

devilish of smile,

we laugh with no change of tone

from straight-lipped frowns.

we hold hands,

warm from hibernation,

to exit each other’s icicle spiderwebs.

guilt and guile

wax to-and-fro

in the comings and goings

of relatives and friends.

you caramelize what i am,

while i sugarcoat your moments.

no despair or rapture

in our peccadillo kitsch.

agile as geminis,

we share a face across quadrilles

of ongoing astrological flanks.

pain, it comes round.

we entertain it

and each other all the while,

not looking too close,

but saying hello, once again,

every once in a while.
