Poem: Sudden

Sudden

my heart alert

with bees to fibrillate.

their stings facets

in the liquid of my eyes.

exultant this rupture—

for decades of sorrow

lathered in spangles

now sink away,

and i jubilate

in a dawn-singed mist,

borne of formless ascent,

without scars, clean,

feathers of air, water and light,

ripples from this sudden end,

carrying me, up above the pain,

far from this heavy earth.
