Poem: Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction

a laugh rollicks from chair to chair

till the room gets loose as kindergarten,

more smiles than gravity,

the executives

shucking their iron-maiden-over-the-heart coats.

and the windows, inspired,

vibrant as the diaphragms of loudspeakers,

shuttle the laughter off skyscrapers to echo

through grey-clad flannel hordes

who peel off their pinched shoes

and dance as they once believed they could

among daisies and dandelions without rules:

jitterbugs of celebration, relief sighs tears.

the weighted ways of habitude

flipped now, business cards gone blank,

canvases for unscripted art,

gateways for muses.
