Poem: Crows At Sunset

Crows at Sunset

peppery legions,

dusty of roused wing, they throng

the valley oaks caked with

their cronks and brays

to clot a severed sun.

in flaunt and mock

of wealthy mayhem,

they rush aloft, speckling

the fitful gusty wind with

a ruffled, brazen,

hood-ornament-like status,

lost in a fever of caws, cackles

and clamors--

which cacchinate in

sprays of blurry reels to braid and

wreath twisted laurels of

self-assumed importance,

embroidering a flesh of violet and

burgundy, drunken with blood.
